The program runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon nearly every Sunday from September through May. We serve children from birth through 8th grade. We focus on the Humanist ideals of living life ethically and joyfully. We learn about world religions in an informational way so that we can better understand and appreciate others.  From the Director

Katherine Ross

Welcome to all our new and returning families for the Golden Rule Sunday School Session - Fall 2016!  Lots of fun is being planned: Our first event is the Saturday before Sunday School begins - the annual Back-to-Sunday School Potluck Picnic, at the Winnemac Park (near Argyle and Hamilton corner) on Saturday, September 10th.  Our first day of Sunday School follows on Sunday, September 11th.  This year we are going to identify and practice our Ethical Humanist values with many activities, projects and crafts.

The following Sunday, September 18th, we’ll get the year rolling with a favorite activity, Mike Rush’s “Bug Walk” at Emily Oaks Nature Center.  Afterwards, we’ll have our first Sunday School Meeting at 12:15.  For the rest of the semester, Sunday School meetings will be at 12:15pm every 2nd Sunday.  Also coming up soon is our annual Fall Children’s Fair on October, 23rd.

Many thanks to the families and the Ethical Action Committee who took over lunch packing for the Lincoln Park Community Shelter during the summer.  The Sunday School will be back in charge of lunch packing beginning October 2nd.

It’s going to be another great year! —see you in Sunday School!

In our children's educational program, the Golden Rule Sunday School, our young people are encouraged:
  • to respect themselves and others
  • to value education
  • to celebrate the arts
  • to think critically and independently
  • to investigate and discover
  • to have compassion
  • and to make ethical choices in their daily lives.

They experience this in an atmosphere of love and mutual support, with the help of caring adults, using stories, discussion, arts, and crafts.
